Méribel is one of the Europe’s premier ski resorts, situated in the middle of the biggest ski area in the world called Les Trois Vallées (The 3 Valleys) in the French Alps. Méribel has some of the best skiing available from high altitude all the way down to tree lined pistes further below down the valley. It has one of the most up-to-date lift systems available ensuring non-stop enjoyment time on the pistes. With almost 700 snow cannons and an unlimited water supply, you can expect to find great snow cover during the winter on much of the mountain.
Méribel was co-founded by Colonel Peter Lindsey in 1938 which may explain why it is one of the most popular ski resorts for British visitors. Méribel has retained is beautiful alpine charm due to strict building regulations, and prides itself on being one of the prettiest purpose built villages, enhanced by some lovely rustic hamlets further down the valley. It’s popularity isn’t only due to the attractive chalet-style architecture, but it’s facilities in resort. There are numerous high quality restaurants, shops, bars and nightclubs all conveniently situated around the resort. Méribel hosted some of the events during the 1992 winter Olympics, including most ice hockey matches and several of the Ladies Alpine Ski Races. The Olympic centre currently offers a recently opened health and wellness centre, a swimming pool, a ten pin bowling alley and other facilities.
The choice of piste skiing and off-piste terrain available helps make Méribel stay as one of the world's top choices for those looking for a memorable skiing holiday. Whether you are looking to take your first few turns as a beginner, build your confidence on numerous easy green pistes, explore the area on blue pistes, cruise around extensive red pistes or show off your skills on the famous black pistes, Méribel is the ideal ski area to visit with your friends and family. Méribel is in the heart of The 3 Valleys ski area with Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Courchevel nearby.

Hi everyone, and welcome back to another post from Méribel, an early spring edition. Since the previous article, Méribel has remained busy leading up to the Easter Bank Holiday, providing me with plenty of ski instructing work. I've enjoyed teaching a whole variety of people including a Corporate Group from the UK, a private school from Lincolnshire, a mum and daughter combo from South Africa, a lovely Irish family and a regular Dutch husband and wife team.
